Privacy and cookie policy

This book holds the memories of someone you love. That is why we want to explain, with no small print, what data we process, what for and what control you have over it.

Last updated: 23 October 2026.

1. Who is the data controller

2. What data we process

From the person who buys the gift

Name, email, phone number, delivery address for the book and the details needed for invoicing. Payment is handled by a secure payment gateway: we never see or store your card details.

From the person who tells their stories

Name, phone (or WhatsApp) number, the messages, voice notes and photos they send, their transcription and the text of the book. Their stories may include information about other people or sensitive data, such as memories about their health. We only use it to create their book.

From the family members you invite

Name and email, so they can suggest questions and photos.

From visitors to this website

Your cookie choice; website usage statistics with Google Analytics, without cookies or identifiers if you do not accept them; our own count of visits and clicks, always without cookies, without your IP address and without any personal identifier (in the order form we add a random code that only lasts while the tab is open, to know how far people get); what you type in the order form is not sent: it stays in your browser for the duration of your visit; and, only if you accept, the browsing data collected by Google Analytics cookies and the Meta pixel (see the cookies section).

3. What we use it for and on what legal basis

  • Providing the service you have purchased: sending the questions, transcribing the answers, asking follow-up questions, laying out, printing and delivering the book. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
  • Processing the messages, voice notes and photos of the person who tells their stories. Legal basis: their consent, which we ask for in the first message and which they can withdraw at any time, simply by no longer taking part or by asking us to delete their content.
  • Invoicing and complying with legal obligations (tax and accounting). Legal basis: legal obligation.
  • Answering your queries by email or WhatsApp. Legal basis: your consent when you write to us and, where applicable, pre-contractual measures.
  • Understanding how the website is used (visits, where they come from, which sections are of interest) with Google Analytics, to improve it. Legal basis: your consent in the cookie notice for analytics cookies; without it, we only receive aggregated, cookieless statistics, on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing the basic use of the website.
  • Counting visits and clicks with our own count: we only store which action was taken (for example, opening a question or clicking a plan), the date, the campaign the visit comes from and whether it is a mobile phone or a computer. We do not store your IP address or anything that could identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing the basic use of the website.
  • Measuring our adverts with the Meta pixel. Legal basis: your consent in the cookie notice.

We do not sell your data or your family's, we do not use it for third-party advertising and we do not make automated decisions that affect you. Artificial intelligence is only used to transcribe, ask follow-up questions and help put the text in order: it does not make up content.

4. How long we keep it

  • Messages, voice notes, photos and the text of the book: for as long as the service lasts and up to 12 months after the book is delivered, in case you want to order more copies. After that we delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Invoicing data: for as long as the law requires (generally, 6 years).
  • Our own count of visits and clicks: for a maximum of 2 years.
  • Your cookie choice: until you change it or clear your browser data.

5. Who else can access it

Only the providers we need to deliver the service, who act on our behalf under a contract that requires them to protect the data:

  • Payment gateway.
  • WhatsApp Business (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.), to send the questions and receive the answers.
  • Artificial intelligence provider to transcribe voice notes and generate follow-up questions. It does not use the content to train its models.
  • Printer and courier company, to print and deliver the book.
  • Web hosting and email.
  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.), for website usage statistics.
  • Google Sheets (Google Ireland Ltd.), where we keep our own count of visits and clicks.

Some of these providers may be located outside the European Economic Area (for example, in the United States). In that case, the transfer is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. Your rights

You, and also the person who tells their stories, can ask us at any time to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use, object to its processing, receive it in a portable format or withdraw your consent. Just write to contacto@librodetuvida.com; we will reply within a month.

If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).

7. Security and minors

We apply technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration. The service is not aimed at children under 14: the purchase must be made by an adult.

8. Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are small files or pieces of data stored in your browser. This website uses very few:

Necessary (always active)

  • cookie-consent (your browser's local storage, first-party): remembers whether you have accepted or rejected cookies, so we do not ask you again. It lasts until you change it or clear your browser data.

Fonts and images are served from our own domain.

Analytics

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_FB4MBD8ZRC; from Google Ireland Ltd.): tells us how many people visit the website, where they come from and which sections interest them. These cookies are only stored if you accept them and last up to 2 years.

If you do not accept them, Google Analytics does not store cookies or identifiers in your browser: it only receives anonymous notices that a visit or an action has taken place (with technical data such as the page, the type of device or the IP address, which Google does not keep), which we use for aggregated statistics.

We also keep our own count of visits and clicks, which does not use cookies or store anything in your browser (see section 3).

Advertising (only if you accept)

  • Meta pixel (_fbp, fr; from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.): tells us whether a visit comes from our adverts on Facebook or Instagram and whether it ends in a purchase, so we can measure and improve those adverts. They last up to 3 months.

If you reject them, the website works exactly the same.

How to change your choice

You can change it whenever you like from Cookie settings (also in the website footer) or by deleting cookies in your browser settings.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change anything important, we will update this page and the date above and, if you are already a customer, we will tell you by email.
